Story background

Hanamikoji, the most famous geisha street in Kyoto, has always had many talented dancers, but only the favored performers can become top performers through years of hard work. If you want to become a famous geisha, this road is lonely and difficult. You have to play the role of the geisha's patron and support them to become geishas from apprentices, and then promoted to tea house owners. In order to achieve this goal, as a sponsor, you give them favorite gifts so that they can perform in different teahouses to gain recognition. The artist starts out as an apprentice maiko, and when she receives a certain level of support, she returns home with honor. , which means that they have become independent geishas and brought prestige to the teahouse. Some geishas have gone to a higher level and even inherited the teahouse and become the boss and inherited all the prestige.

Game introduction

The Way of the Geisha is a 25-minute two-player competition game. In this game, you and your opponent take turns selecting action tiles and item cards to help the geisha shuttle between teahouses, show off their artistic performances to guests, and allow their skills to be recognized. . When a geisha happens to return to their original "home" teahouse, she gains reputation. After four rounds, compare the total support for each geisha between players on both sides to see who wins the geisha's reputation points. After two games, the player with the most reputation points wins! In this game, geishas score points when they return to their original teahouse, driven by the cards you and your opponent play. Influence the geisha movement route to control the reputation each geisha scores. But the path won't be easy - be careful if your opponent misleads you into investing your resources in Geisha, which will ultimately benefit the other party. Hide your true intentions through stealth and calculated risks, and wisely associate yourself with the geisha who will rise to the highest heights.

Game description

After shuffling the cards, each player is dealt 6 item cards, and the players take turns to perform actions. During the player's action turn, he first draws an item card from the card library, and then selects 1 of the 4 action markers to perform the action. 4 Action Markers Action Description

Immediately play 1 item card face up into your tableau, and move the Geisha accordingly clockwise.

Operation 2: Conspiracy

1. Play an item card near the screen under this action mark and place it face down, then discard the other face down card. 2. The item card under the action mark will be displayed and perform the action at the end of this round.

Action 3: Gift

1. Pick 3 item cards from your hand and place them face up. 2. Your opponent chooses 1 item card to put into their zone and moves the Geisha accordingly. 3. You place the remaining 2 item cards into your area (in the order you want) and move the Geisha accordingly.

Action 4: Compete

1. Pick 2 sets of 2 item cards from your hand and place them face up. 2. Your opponent chooses 1 set to put into their zone (in the order they want) and moves those Geishas accordingly. 3. Next, you place the remaining set into your area and move those Geishas accordingly.

Get a lantern card

When the geisha ends her move at the starting teahouse, place a lantern card (prestige point) next to the teahouse.

Get visitor tag

When you move a geisha 1 or 2 spaces, you can also collect 2 or 1 guest tokens respectively on the teahouse where the moved geisha lands. These visitor tokens will be scored at the end of the round based on their number and color. A round ends when both players have completed all 4 actions. At that time, each player is to reveal and perform the card they have kept face down in front of them (Action 2). Scoring is done for the round, and for each color, whoever has the higher influence (the number on the card) wins that geisha's favor and the reputation points of all her lantern cards. Reputation points from visitor markers are counted to calculate a total score. After players play 2 rounds, the player with the highest total score in the 2 rounds wins!
