    卡卡頌由德國遊戲設計師 Klaus-Jürgen Wrede 設計，曾經得過2001年的年度遊戲獎。

    卡卡頌的名字來自於一個位於法國西南，以其城牆聞名的同名小鎮：Carcassonne。

    卡卡頌有多種得分方法，通常而言佔據建築物或草地便會有分數。玩家每一回合需要放置版圖幫忙擴大地圖，也可以選擇運用手上的米寶來佔據建築物或地域，城堡、道路、修道院和草地各有不同的計分方法。還可以加入不同的擴充，改變計分方法和增加建築物的種類，絕對是一個百玩不厭的遊戲。

    卡卡頌 2.0 中文版由台灣新天鵝堡桌遊製造，基本版包括河流擴充及修道院長擴充。另外大盒版包含其他擴充，增加遊戲的變化。
